The Son is still shining in the hearts of young people and awakening them to new life! Kale is a young man who came on our spring break trip and had a great time but left and went back home still undecided if he was ready to give his life to Christ. Kale is currently living with his grandparents because of his mom’s drug addiction and being abandoned by a father at an early age. His past and current life circumstances have created massive trust issues as well as a hard heart towards any “hope” of a better life.
This summer Kale came with us on our summer conference called CIY (Christ in Youth). He went into the week knowing Jesus would be the focus and with a genuine desire to get to know him more, but slightly clueless as to how to do that. With an open heart and open mind, Jesus poured out into his life. The second night of the conference Kale felt like God was leading him to go forward and say “YES” to Jesus.
Kale looked down the row we were in until I finally noticed him. He motioned for me to walk with him to the front of the room to give his life to Jesus and tears filled my eyes as joy filled my heart. At the front of the stage was a large lever that teens could pull resembling the switching of train tracks as the switching the course of their lives to Christ’s plan and off of their plan. As Kale pulled that lever back, it was a moment he will never forget because he has been forever changed by the Spirit of God.
Getting to pray with him in that moment was one of the greatest privileges I have had as a Campus Life Director. It is moments like this we pray for, give for, and would even be willing to die for. Moments like this happen because of the amazing God we serve and people like you and I who are willing to do our part in His work. Thank you for being a part of Kale’s journey to Christ. Lift him and the many other names like Amy, Amber, Blane, Jackson, and Aiden who gave their lives to Christ this summer!
