This year’s spring break trip was a new adventure to a place we had never been before, Gulf Shores, AL! We stayed at a beautiful retreat center right next to the ocean. For many students, this was the first time they had ever seen the ocean! It was so much fun to see their eyes light up as they put their feet in the ocean. In that moment, those first timers were experiencing a new adventure they would remember for the rest of their lives.
One of those students was a girl named Ashley. Ashley doesn’t come out to many Campus Life events, but she has a great relationship with one of our ministry leaders who talked her into going. As the week went on, I saw God working in Ashley. During cabin times at night, she had lots of questions about faith, God, and doubt.
On the second to last day on the beach, Ashley accepted Jesus for the very first time with her ministry leader! There are no lengths and no place that we will not go for a student to know Jesus. While the spring break trip is a great vacation on the beach, the time away from the distractions of life bring questions and clarity to students. It creates space for them to see who God is and what He’s doing in their lives.
